This is an innovative qualification that integrates vocational and academic learning. It was developed to reflect the changing roles and responsibilities of a senior hospitality manager thus it incorporates hospitality industry skills and management concepts and theories. This course will provide graduates with the necessary skills, knowledge and values to be successful managers in the hospitality industry. There will be a strong emphasis on applied learning through a range of integrated management and hospitality industry projects. A range of assessment tasks will be undertaken during this course including written reports, assignments, group projects, case studies, oral presentations and formal examinations. Management and vocational skills, knowledge and attributes will be further consolidated by completing an internship in an area of vocational interest in the final year. National examinations can be written at any of the campuses
Students who successfully complete this programme might work as Food & Beverages Personnel, Hotel Front Office Personnel, Housekeeping Personnel, Entrepreneur, Professional Chef, Waiter, Waitress, Client Services Manager, Hotel and Restaurant Manager
External examinations are written in the mid year and at the end of each of the year, after which successful
students receive a National Certificate issued by the Department of Education The Pretoria Technical College
recommends that students cover N4 Programme in a year and N5 and N6 the following year.
All examinations are administered by the Department of Education
Examinations can be written either in Pretoria or Durban
Students should make sure that they register before they write this examinations
Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
18 months (Full Time) plus In-service Training for 18 months.

The leaner will be qualified to apply for National Diploma after a minimum of 18 months In-service training.
